January Review

logo

January was a strange month shop-wise, and personally. I sold quite a few more items than I have been lately, but they were all the same. So, I have no idea what happened there as the etsy stats system is awful. But hey, I am thankful for the sales, no matter how confusing.

I also purchased A TON of yarn…because it was on sale for $1 a skein…but I had to buy it in bulk packs of 36 skeins…so I got 3 different yarns. Mostly because I have yarn problems. But a little because WHO CAN PASS UP A DEAL LIKE THAT?! Thank you Dollar Tree.

Personally, things got a little hairy and terrifying towards the end of the month, but it is resulting in buying my own home and hopefully slightly easier days ahead…once we close escrow and move that is.

November Review

logo

November was really all about me. I spent a lot of time working on things, for me. I made a Harry Potter scarf for each house for me, I made a shawl for me, plus I made a bunch of Christmas presents. I made one amigurumi for a friend to order in December, and that is about it. It was nice, and relaxing, to work on my own projects for once. And since I didn’t have anything in particular in mind, it wasn’t difficult to work through my stash for nearly all of what I worked on. Plus, my daughter started some Christmas presents for her mom and that side of the family, so that helped with my count. (Hey! It comes out of my stash ==> it counts towards my yarn crocheted in a month! lol)

November Plan

Oct 30 – Christmas Props
Yea…no

Nov 6 – Thanksgiving Props
Yea…no

Nov 13 – Charity
Nope…

Nov 20 – Christmas Props
Hahaa…still no.

Nov 27 – Free Week
Technically, yes. I completed this. 😉

Yarn Purchased in November

3,432 yards total
3,432 yards of Lion Brand Scarfie (I really just thought it was pretty and wanted it…and it was on sale…and I had a coupon…and now I can use it to make Christmas presents!)

Yarn Crocheted in November

4,984 yards total (I am actually really surprised to see that I crocheted more than I purchased…I purchased A LOT of yarn this month!)
91 yards of Red Heart Super Saver (horsie)
268 yards of Caron One Pound (horsie)
102 yards of Lion Brand Pound of Love (blanket)

2,431 yards of I Love This Yarn (Harry Potter scarves and Christmas presents)
532 yards of I Love This Yarn (crocheted by my 11 year old for Christmas presents)

April Review

logo

April was a really bad month, shop-wise, personally, the whole nine. Nothing really came to fruition. But, I suppose that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

April Plan

Mar 27 – Free Week
Did pretty much nothing. Made another fox rug for an employee whose wife is pregnant.

Apr 3 – Summer Props
I made a really cool strawberry photo prop…but no one knew what it was and everyone hated it…so yea…there’s that.

Apr 10 – WIPs
I worked on exactly 0 WIP products…and made an adult lap throw.

Apr 17 – Skull Shawls
I almost completed one….

Apr 24 – Halloween Props
I actually just finished my skull shawl. I should probably work on Halloween props, as they are my big seller, but I am short on the funds to buy the right yarn. :-:

Yarn Purchased in April

0 yards (amazing!!)

Yarn Crocheted in April

3,387 yards total
770 yards of Bernat Blanket yarn (adult lap blanket)

Hello March

logo

March is back to the real work. I have a few skirts I need to finish for St Patrick’s Day, please I have a pretty full month with my crochet schedule. Add in several doctor’s appointments, a trip to Phoenix, and a visit from my best friend, well, it could definitely get a little crazy in my house.

But, we shall see how it all goes! March will see the shop staying on vacation mode, and hopefully tearing through some of this yarn I just bought. 😀

Feb 27 – Charity

Mar 6 – Halloween Props

Mar 13 – Easter Amigurumi

Mar 20 – Unicorns

Mar 27 – Free Week

February Review

logo

Shop-wise, February was not the best month. It’s actually my worst February since opening the shop, saleswise. However, I still have the shop in ready to ship only, and I am doing very little advertising.

I am going through some health things right now, and I just don’t have the energy or stability to focus on it all. So, I am taking some time to myself. I am working at my own pace, creating what I want, and not being totally stressed out about trying to push sales.

My husband and I had a long discussion and actually decided to forego the craft fairs this year, as it just isn’t worth it right now. We will pick it back up next year, when we can really focus again.

February Plan

Jan 30 – Valentines Props √√√

Feb 6 – Free Week √√√ (I made a fox rug! I also finished 3 Valentine’s skirts.)

Feb 13 – Free Week √√√ (I made a fireman costume!)

Feb 20 – Easter Props √√√ (I made a carrot / bunny prop!)

Feb 27 – Charity √√√ (Started working on this yesterday, and will continue throughout the week. I am currently focusing on scarves.)

Yarn Purchased in February

6,735 yards (I needed to use my super awesome JoAnn Fabrics coupon– $30 off $75! Plus, Bernat Blanket was on sale!)
1,775 yards of I Love This Yarn (purchased for the fox rug)
3,640 yards of Red Heart Super Saver (purchased for the charity scarves)
440 yards of Bernat Baby Blanket
880 yards of Bernat Blanket

Yarn Crocheted in February

2,894 yards total
50 yards of Lion Brand Jiffy
1,180 yards of Crafter’s Secret
564 yards of Red Heart Super Saver
1,100 yards of I Love This Yarn

Fox Rug (Pattern Review)

I absolutely adore Ira Rott patterns. She wrote the amazing pattern that I used for my elephant pillows. I actually have about 30 of her patterns, and am very slowly working my way through them. The next one I found time to work through (during my AMAZING free week according to my new organizational system!), it happened to be this super cute fox rug pattern. Now, I did not add a backing to it, because I like the idea of it being a blanket or a rug on the carpet or a photo prop, as opposed to an actual rug; but the pattern does give detailed instructions on how to add a non-slip backing to it.

This pattern worked up super quickly, I did it in 2 days or just working on it part time, and turned out SO cute. The stitches are simple, with a crab stitch and a picot being the only real “non-basic” stitches in it. And, as always, she gives detailed instructions on how to complete these stitches.

The most difficult part of the entire pattern is sewing things together. But, that is because I am super lazy and hate to hand-sew things. 🙂

Seriously, from beginner to experienced crocheters, I highly, highly, highly recommend Ira Rott’s patterns. It is all so STINKIN ADORABLE, so many options, and so easy to follow.

January Review

logo

January was a pretty good month for the shop. Now, that majority of that was due to a large custom order I spent the entire month working on. But, it definitely made it worth it. The shawls turned out beautifully, and I cannot wait to see how they look in my friend’s wedding. 🙂

January Plan

Jan 2 –  Shawls  √√√

Jan 9 –  Shawls  √√√

Jan 16 – Shawls  √√√

Jan 23 – Shawls √√√

Jan 30 – Valentines Props  I finished up the shawls on the 30th and will begin working on props today. 🙂
