June / July Review

logo

I would like to say that I am going to get better about updating this blog, but I probably won’t. School is absolutely crazy. Work is work, as always. I am also spending a lot of time in the gym trying to reverse some of the damage I have done to my body since I separated from the Navy. Plus, my husband and I are getting ready to enter the world of foster parenting…so things may get even more crazy than they already are. The business is sort of on the back-burner to “real life”. I am trying, and I am still planning on a few festivals a year and trying to innovate new things, but there is a lot going on in my head right now that rank higher than a business that cannot support my family.

March / April / May Review

logo

Whew, would you look at the time? It has been a whirlwind couple of months and I am having a hard time digesting that we are halfway through June.

March consisted of packing to move, school, and work. That was pretty much it.

April consisted of moving, cleaning the old house, a short vacation for Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Festival, and school.

May consisted of trying to get unpacked (and failing epically), school, resource family training, and trying to figure out where my year had gone.

The shop was closed for half of March, all of April, and a week or so of May. So, I would say that affected sales. J But, things are already looking up this month, and I am excited about a few new projects. I am starting to actually get my house unpacked and ready to be lived in. I am done with my mandated training. I am still taking way too many credits at school and working full time, but at least things in my home are looking up. I have been able to find a little time each weekend to crochet. So far the focus has been on birthday gifts for niece and nephew, but pretty soon it will be ramping up for Halloween and then Christmas gifts for the kiddos!

On the plus side, with having no time, I also haven’t gone yarn shopping! This means I have actually crocheted more than I purchased each month! Yay!

February Review

logo

February was about on par for what I expect from February. It was very, very slow.

Of course, just because sales were slow doesn’t mean life was! We are still in the process of buying a home, I am taking 18 credit hours, I am still working full time, and we just began the process of becoming approved for foster / adoption. So, slow worked this month because I definitely didn’t have time for insane.

I worked on a couple of gifts and that is really all I did this month. The shop is at an interesting state right now. Most of my listings are getting ready to expire, so I am at an junction and am deciding which road to take.
Part of me wants to let the listings expire and leave them that way until I have time to properly photograph and re-write the descriptions for each item. But man does that seem like a long time. And I definitely can’t sell things that aren’t list. So, it is something I am still thinking about, and I really don’t know which way I am leaning just yet.

January Review

logo

January was a strange month shop-wise, and personally. I sold quite a few more items than I have been lately, but they were all the same. So, I have no idea what happened there as the etsy stats system is awful. But hey, I am thankful for the sales, no matter how confusing.

I also purchased A TON of yarn…because it was on sale for $1 a skein…but I had to buy it in bulk packs of 36 skeins…so I got 3 different yarns. Mostly because I have yarn problems. But a little because WHO CAN PASS UP A DEAL LIKE THAT?! Thank you Dollar Tree.

Personally, things got a little hairy and terrifying towards the end of the month, but it is resulting in buying my own home and hopefully slightly easier days ahead…once we close escrow and move that is.

2017 Review

2017 was an interesting year for me. My family went through a lot, and my husband and I both started back in college. So, things got a little hectic and crazy, but I think by the end of the year, we were starting to get the hang of it. However, considering I know what 2018 has in store for me, I can guarantee a much less aggressive goal oriented year.

Goals for 2017….

I am not setting an item goal. My focus this year is going to be on introducing new products. I have a big plan laid out that I will share in tomorrow’s post.
Technically, I met my goal 31 out of 52 weeks this year. So that is actually way, way, way better than I thought I would do! I am actually impressed with myself. I started slacking around June, and then things got really bad when I started back in school come September. I pretty much just cut everything out of my life and gave up.

Update this blog at least once a week.
Well, I managed at least once a month…

Sell 350 items. I am sticking with this one. This one will bring me joy. 🙂 HAHAHAHA! I sold 77 items. This was not my year apparently. I was also, obviously, way down on revenue this year. Like…wayyyy down.

Attend 3 craft fairs. Soka University, Patchwork Santa Ana Spring and Patchwork Santa Ana Fall. I don’t have the time to stock for more than that, and I know that these are good, solid shows. I actually only ended up doing 1 show this year. I did Retro Bettie, which I believe I still need to even blog about.

December Review

logo

December was sort of a hairy month for me. I got a lot done, but I also may have spent $130 on yarn too, so there goes the bust out my stash goals. lol. But, I did have a get $100 off a $200 purchase coupon for Joann’s…so what was I supposed to do?!

But, between finals, Christmas presents, and being sick, I didn’t get anywhere near where I wanted to this month. Oh well, it is what it is I suppose. Maybe next year will look up a little better.

November Review

logo

November was really all about me. I spent a lot of time working on things, for me. I made a Harry Potter scarf for each house for me, I made a shawl for me, plus I made a bunch of Christmas presents. I made one amigurumi for a friend to order in December, and that is about it. It was nice, and relaxing, to work on my own projects for once. And since I didn’t have anything in particular in mind, it wasn’t difficult to work through my stash for nearly all of what I worked on. Plus, my daughter started some Christmas presents for her mom and that side of the family, so that helped with my count. (Hey! It comes out of my stash ==> it counts towards my yarn crocheted in a month! lol)

November Plan

Oct 30 – Christmas Props
Yea…no

Nov 6 – Thanksgiving Props
Yea…no

Nov 13 – Charity
Nope…

Nov 20 – Christmas Props
Hahaa…still no.

Technically, yes. I completed this. 😉
